The thesis outlines an approach for a systematic analysis of terminological problems in ISO standards and discusses the findings of its application to the standards published by ISO/TC 37/SC 4 Language resource management. Based on these findings, it provides a draft for a comprehensive terminology standard for ISO/TC 37/SC 4 under the title Language resource management – vocabulary, comprising general linguistic terms, terms for language resource management and, taking into account the different families of standards, terms on feature structures, on frameworks for morpho-syntactic annotation (MAF), linguistic annotation (LAF), syntactic annotation (SynAF), semantic annotation (SemAF), comprehensive annotation (ComAF), lexical markup (LMF) and multilingual information, on persistent identification and sustainable access (PISA), component metadata infrastructure (CMDI), corpus query lingua franca (CQLF), word segmentation of written texts, transcription of spoken language and controlled natural language (CNL)/controlled human communication (CHC).
