Description
Intro
COSMO-SPECS is a spectrally-resolved cloud microphysics framework developed in the TROPOS modeling department.
Release Information
title: Prerelease of COSMO-SPECS: CyCare Version
tag: v0.9_cycare
This is a prelease of the detailed cloud microphyical modeling framework COSMO-SPECS which consists of a numerical weather prediction model COSMO version v4.21 online coupled to the detailed spectral-bin cloud microphysics model SPECS.
- COSMO-SPECS was revised and extended as part of the DFG COARSEMIX project which had ice formation during the CyCare campaign over Cyprus as research target
- separate model developments (Simmel version vs. Diehl version) were carefully merged (at least to some extend)
- IC/BC treatment was improved to enable realcase sudies in a regional setup
- a temperature dependent INP treatment was implemented to reflect
- the different physio-chemical properties of different aerosol species that contribute to the diverse INP mix
- consumption of INPs by primary ice formation processes
Statement on Licenses with COSMO-SPECS Source Code
Due to historical development, the COSMO-SPECS source code unfortunately has different and conflicting licenses.
The following license restrictions apply to the code:
- FD4: Is licensed under GPL v3 license (see https://choosealicense.com/licenses/gpl-3.0/). All files under the directory `fd4` are affected
- SPECS: Is licensed under MIT license (see https://choosealicense.com/licenses/mit/). The following files are affected:
- all files under `LM/PARCEL` and `LM/SBM*/`
- as well as files with the following nomenclature: `LM/SRC/*_smb*.f90`
- COSMO: Is licensed with a dedicated COSMO license which is granted either by the DWD or by the CLM community. The following files are affected:
- everything under `LM/` which is not part of SPECS (see above)
