Comparative evaluation of Vestibular Incision Sub-Periosteal Tunnel Access (VISTA) technique with other Tunnelling Techniques- A Systematic Review and Meta Analysis"
- 1. Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research
Description
Background
“GR is defined as the displacement of gingival margin apical to the cementoenamel junction (CEJ)”. The initial treatment includes the withdrawal of all the etiologic factors which is followed by surgical management. The aim is to achieve complete root coverage. The current need for increasing esthetics demands by patients has required dentists to adopt newer and more novel techniques. Since Allen first introduced the tunnelling technique in 1994, a lot of procedural adjustments have been suggested. Vestibular Incision Supra-Periosteal Tunnel Access (VISTA) was introduced by Zadeh. It has the benefit of being minimally invasive and enhances the profile of wound healing while making tunnelling easier.
Objectives
To compare Vestibular Incision Supra-Periosteal Tunnel Access (VISTA) technique with other Tunnelling Techniques in the treatment of multiple gingival recession defects.
Methods of Searching
Up until DECEMBER 2023, we shall search PUBMED without regard to language constraints. Additionally, we will handsearch, examine the bibliographies of pertinent publications, search trial registries for active trials, and look for potentially relevant research. No date or language limitations will be imposed.
Criteria for Selection
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that assess outcomes using an open or blinded methodology are a factor we want to include. We will need full journal publication, with the exception of extended abstracts of clinical trials that are otherwise unpublished. There will be exclusions for brief abstracts (typically meeting reports), non-randomized studies, research on experimental pain, studies based on animal models, case reports, and clinical observational studies.
ANALYSIS AND COLLECTION OF DATA
Three review authors will independently determine the eligibility of each study. Three review writers will then extract the data, and they will use the established "Cochrane methodology" to independently assess the "risk of bias" for each study. We will assess the evidences using “GRADE” and will create a table for “Summary of findings”.
