Primeras citas de Gastrana matadoa (Gmelin, 1791) (Bivalvia: Tellinidae) para la península Ibérica

Description

The bivalve Gastrana matadoa was found for the first time in waters of the Iberian Peninsula, in the Gulf of Cádiz, in the Atlantic coast. Shells were found in eight different places including Spain and Portugal, indicative of the abundance of the species. The presence of a species from warm, subtropical waters so far to the north may be indicative of changes in water currents and superficial temperatures, which may accelerate in the coming years.
