Description
Educational technology research remains overwhelmingly focused on people who live in western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic (WEIRD) nations. This assumes that how people learn is independent of local norms. We used data that had been collected through LabintheWild (LitW) to learn about how people solve problems. We analyzed participant solution paths and time-use patterns. Our results showed differences in time-taken per step across groups when solving problems, indicating a need to vary learning supports or materials based on learner background and habits.
