Investigating Barriers to Accessing Digital Mental Health Resources Among Marginalized Populations Within Nigeria's Psychotherapeutic Landscape

Creators

Description

In Nigeria, it's important that everyone has access to mental health resources. But some groups face barriers to getting the help they need. This study looked at these barriers and how they affect mental healthcare.

The researchers talked to people from different marginalized groups in Nigeria, like those with low incomes or living in rural areas. They found a few main barriers that stop these groups from using digital mental health resources.

One big barrier is money. Many people can't afford smartphones or good internet connections needed for digital services. Another problem is language and culture. The available resources aren't always in local languages or don't address cultural beliefs about mental health.
