Description
Cities are presented as a relevant and complex object of study due to their great multidisciplinarity and implication for modern society. More than half of the world's population lives in cities that have many problems and challenges. The formulation of public policies for the construction of sustainable cities is an effort aimed at the effectiveness and quality of life of the population. This paper starts from the following research question: what are the perceptions of sustainable cities indicators in the view of the citizens of the city of Guarapuava in the state of Paraná? The purpose was to analyze ISO 37120 indicators of sustainable cities in the view of the citizens surveyed. Under the methodological scope, this is a deductive research, with a descriptive objective, cross-sectional time frame, quantitative approach and survey-type survey. 66 indicators were collected, of which 61 were retained, distributed in 13 dimensions/constructs out of 312 researched. The best evaluated dimension was “Recreation and Afforestation” followed by “Education”. The dimensions with the worst perceptions were “Housing” preceded by “Public Security”. Additionally, a negative association was found between numerous dimensions and age, education and length of time living in the city. Also, in eight of the 13 dimensions, gender was influential, and men had slightly more positive perceptions than women. Discussions and analyzes were carried out using descriptive statistics and bivariate inferences. The results showed that the research brought up contributions on sustainable cities with a focus on ISO 37120 indicators and contributes to SDG 11 and Agenda 2030, interrelating the structuring of strategies and municipal application.
