Description

Agriculture is the principal source of livelihood for about 48 percent of the population of the country. It generates exportable surpluses and caters to the food security of the nation.  The agriculture sector provides food rains, earnings to the government, raw materials for the industrial sector, and the bulk of wage goods required in the non-agriculture sector. Any ups and downs in the agriculture sector affect the entire economy positively or negatively reflecting the greater importance to the Indian economy.
