Gravito-inertial modes at the surface of fast rotating stars
Description
The recent discovery of gravito-inertial modes on the surface of Altair by
Rieutord et al. (2023) (A&A 669, A99), using high-resolution spectroscopy,
intriguingly presents the opportunity to investigate the surface layers
of rapidly rotating stars. These waves are particularly sensitive to the
surface boundary conditions, which have been a persistent challenge in
"absolute" asteroseismology when attempting to directly compare the
eigenfrequencies of models with observed frequencies.
