Description
FIGURE 1. Maps showing the locations of the sampling areas. (A) Jeju Island (a black rectangule) as the study areas and geographical names (black circles) frequently cited in this manuscript. (B) Jeju Island at the southernmost regions of Korean Peninsula. (C) Seogwipo coast in Jeju Island and five sites of diatom sampling. St 1: A partly closed water body surrounded by volcanic rocks in the coast, a kind of shallow pseudo-lagoon with a lot of seaweeds (a representative point, 33o18'N 126o49'E). St 2: Some waterway or channels flowing in the middle parts of the sand beach (33o19'N 126o50'E). St. 3: As a rocky coast, there are small pools on rocks after high tide (33o25'N 126o55'E). St 4: A large lagoon where seawater moves at low and high tide through one entrance (33o27'N 126o55'E). St 5: A lake in coast, a field of reeds in the mouth area, where many migratory birds flock (33o30'N 126o53'E). White map for the Northeast Asia was taken from a website, https://rgm-79.tistory.com/703.
