Description

Traditional distribution networks are characterized by low observability and the data necessary for their effective planning and operation was not always available. With the integration of distributed energy resources and other changes, the need for continuous monitoring of the network is increasing.

The use of tools based on geographic information systems (GIS) and advanced meters increases network observability and facilitates operation for the distribution system operator. However, the data collected from GIS tools and advanced meters are not always usable in their initial form, and before their use in further simulations of distribution networks, the collected data must be processed, edited and found errors must be removed.

This paper presents a method of detecting and removing errors in GIS data and their further use in power quality calculations in distribution networks.
