  • 1. Assistant Professor Department of Political Science Government City College (A), Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

Description

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a bold and forward-thinking initiative that aims to break down rigid barriers and open up new opportunities for students to select and pursue the topics or programs of their choosing. The policy makes numerous improvements that have the potential to revolutionize higher education in India. A significant opportunity exists to transform Indian education from "sorting and selection" to "human development" through the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020, allowing each student to reach their full potential. In this article, possibilities and difficulties are used as a framework for analysing the NEP 2020 policy. We pay particular attention to evaluation, implementation, and problems (or lack thereof) in higher education institutions in India. The Multiple Entry and Exit System (MEES) is a significant reform that aims to improve the accessibility and equity of the higher education system for all students. The deliberate implementation of this ground-breaking step would give students seamless mobility, ensuring their zero-year loss and giving them the chance to learn from anywhere, at any time. It is difficult to see the entire higher education system is made up of exceptional professors who respect, are curious about, and lean toward other fields of study while remaining specialists in their own. Over the next 15 to 20 years, this calls for a cultural change throughout the entire higher education ecosystem. As India develops into the world's greatest workforce in the next years, this research study will also examine the significance of the National Education Policy 2020. We must sustainably overcome significant execution challenges over the ensuing years and decades if we are to achieve the dreams it contains. In this paper, we assess the potential for implementing the NEP. The significance of the NEP 2020 will also be highlighted by this research.
