Description

Dayak tribe is one of the tribes contained in Borneo which has a very distinctive "Telingaan Aruu" culture. The tradition is a tradition passed on from generation to generation to Dayak’s women. However, this tradition has begun to be abandoned because of the assumption that the tradition is outdated. Therefore, there should be an introduction of the culture to the general public, so that the younger generation still know the existence of the tradition in Indonesia. Telingaan aruu is a tradition of elongating ears by the people of the Dayak tribe, the tradition of lengthening the ears among the Dayak people has long been carried out from generation to generation. The elongation of the earlobe usually uses weights in the form of metal circles in the form of copper bracelets which in the kenyah language are called "Belaong". With this ballast the earlobe will continue to extend up to several centimeters. However, not all Dayak sub-tribes on the island of Borneo have this tradition. Only a few groups know the culture of long ears. However, only those who live in rural areas, such as the Dayak Kenyah, Dayak Bahau, Dayak Penan, Dayak Kelabit, Dayak Sa'ban, Dayak Kayaan, Dayak Taman, and Dayak Punan.
