Diagnosis. Adult (Fig. 19) wingspan 16.5–24.5 mm. Calamotropha nigripunctella is diagnosed by the medial fascia of the white forewing bearing a short and wide black medial band, and the terminal margin with three black dots; in the male genitalia by the gnathos with a triangular dorsal process at distal 1/3, the valva with a dorsoapical process bearing a few spines, and the vesica with a row of spiniform cornuti (Fig. 41); in the female genitalia by the ductus bursae slightly broadened posteriorly (Fig. 61). Calamotropha nigripunctella is similar to C. brevilinella (South, 1901) superficially, and the differences between them are stated in the diagnoses of C. brevilinella.

Distribution. China (Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang), South Korea, Japan.
