Textbook Of Forensic Medicine And Toxicology
Description
Text books on forensic medicine in India have traditionally been black and white, poor in quality in both printing and photographic illustrations, as a result the Undergraduates/Postgraduates are drawn less and repelled more (as if conditions inside the morgue was not enough) from the subject.
This textbook is a turning point in the field of forensic medicine. It’s comprehensive, concise, very informative, beautifully printed, updated, easy to understand, several illustrations and photographs along with use of real case studies captivate the reader along with relevant historical aspects and latest technological facts. This book is not only a visual treat but also will quench the thirst for knowledge to a large extent in the forensic field.
The chapters are outlined and written in a simple format, with colour coding for headings, sub headings and key figures. Also all the concepts are meticulously explained in a simplified way through flowcharts and illustrations.
The greatest challenge the author can undertake is to write a book which breaks away from all traditional books in every possible way in the same field. That Prof Anil Aggrawal has taken this challenge and with all his conviction, passion, obsession and years of hard work succeed as well as he does is impressive making it a splendid, enjoyable and delightful reading.
I have read several forensic textbooks by Indian authors; it is superior in both coverage and detail and well written, more readable to any of the other textbooks. If I had only had this book before, I could have saved a lot of money with all of the other books I have purchased. No textbook is perfect and some supplementation is always needed, but this book come the closest. This book has the potential to be a reference book in Courts of Law.
I highly recommend this book for Postgraduates, Medical officers, Lawyers and anyone with an interest in the forensic field .This will serve as a good resource for years to come. My one caveat is that if one lacks time or doesn’t want details – he can go for Essentials by the same author .
