Description

This paper deals with six amphora stamps discovered on the northern slope of Kaletaşı hill, identified as the city’s acropolis, during the survey carried out in Antandros in 2000. These stamps comprise five examples with identified origins from Samothrace, Cnidus, Rhodes and Parmeniskos and Nikandros Groups. Additionally, another example shares similarities with a stamp unearthed during the excavations in Assos. While the origin of this stamp remains uncertain, it suggests a production centre in Western Anatolia. The paper may be deemed noteworthy for being the first publication on the stamped handles found in and around Antandros. Through the evidence presented, it provides insights into the potential wine trade and trade routes between Antandros and centres such as Samothrace, Macedonia (Parmeniskos Group), Cnidus, Rhodes, and Western Anatolia (Nikandros Group) between the 3rd and early 1st century BC.
