TEENAGE PREGNANCY: HOW SCHOOLS IN THE URBAN AREA OF LORETO-MA APPROACH THE THEME

Teenage pregnancy is a serious problem in the world, especially in underdeveloped or developing countries. Index that increases among girls with less schooling and access to health and educational services. (WHO, 1994). It is noteworthy that the benefits of a teenage pregnancy go beyond social issues, but they can also directly bring harm to the mother as well as the child. In this sense, this study aimed to investigate how the theme of teenage pregnancy is worked in schools in the urban area of Loreto-MA. as specific objectives: to describe actions that the Municipal Department of Education has been working in schools on the topic of pregnancy in schools in the urban area of Loreto-Ma; to map which schools in the municipal public network have the highest rate of pregnant adolescents; to identify teachers' perceptions on the subject of teenage pregnancy and ways to talk about this subject at school. The methodology used was exploratory and descriptive, so it was carried out through a field survey and using a questionnaire as an instrument, applied to eight participants who worked directly or indirectly with education. As a result, we obtained that teachers feel unprepared in attending to pregnant students in the classroom, because they do not have a specific training. Finally, it is concluded that the theme of teenage pregnancy is very important for reflection in the school environment, because it will give students knowledge that an unwanted pregnancy can generate risks, both personal and collective for the teenager.
