Description

Millets offer nutritional security and there is a need for promoting millets as they are highly nutritious. These are a traditional staple food of the dry land regions of the world. Millet grows extremely quickly and matures in almost half the time required for rice and wheat, and low maintenance and drought -resistance grain. This grain provides various health benefits and has multiple uses in cooking, is gluten-free and a good source of protein, fibre and micronutrients. Millet contains fibre which aids in digestive health and helps to regulate bowel movements. Millet is very helpful for people with celiac disease or gluten intolerance because of being gluten-free. Millet also contains vitamin B3 or niacin which helps in reducing high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, and is effective in lowering oxidative stress. Millet consumption can reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and helps manage blood glucose levels in people suffering from diabetes. Millets have other health benefits also like managing obesity, reducing oxidative stress, maintaining bone health, improving mood & so on.
