Folklore may be considered the first artistic manifestation of a people. It reflects the way man understood the world and life at different times. Child-lore, as a separate domain of folk creation, is a complex one, and may be approached from different perspectives: functional, structural, or semantic. Due to its rich thematic content, the functions it performs, and its musical-poetic features, the repertoire performed by children has long been an object of interest for researchers from various fields, such as psychologists, educators, sociologists, and musicologists.
