Abstract

The constant evolution of JavaScript has led to a diverse ecosystem of runtime environments, each with unique features and capabilities designed to cater to specific development needs. This paper aims to provide an in-depth comparison of two such runtime environments: Node.js and Bun. The primary focus is to elucidate the key differences, benefits, and potential drawbacks of each, in terms of their architecture, performance, scalability, ecosystem, and use cases. The detailed analysis presented herein is expected to aid developers and tech-teams in making informed decisions when choosing the appropriate runtime for their JavaScript-based projects.
