Development of a Cost-effective and Reliable Mooring System for Floating Offshore Wind
Description
X1 Wind developed an innovative platform design specifically for floating offshore environments. Using a single point mooring (SPM), called PivotBuoy®, the proposed structure is free to weathervane and allows the structural elements to work more efficiently in tension and compression (avoiding the high bending moments in the traditional tower designs). This significantly reduces the amount of steel, resulting in lower capex and lower LCOE.
