Description

Fecal water was extracted from each sample with a 2:1 ratio of water (HPLC-grade, Sigma Aldrich, USA): net weight of fecal sample (µL:mg). The mixture was vortexed for 5 min and centrifuged at 4°C at 18,000 g for 10 min. For the fecal water aliquots, the supernatant from the 15 g fecal material was carefully collected and aliquoted as aforementioned. Proton NMR spectroscopic analysis was performed. 1H NMR spectra were acquired using a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer with a CryoProbe prodigy (Bruker, Germany) at 300 K for fecal water samples. A Carr−Purcell−Meiboom−Gill (CPMG) pulse sequence [RD−90°−(ꞇ−180°−ꞇ)n−acquisition] with 64 scans were applied.
