R Script for Batch Downloading Images from a CSV File (from a Darwin Core Archive)
Description
This R script can be used to batch download images listed as URLs in a Darwin Core Archive - derived multimedia file. Or you can just use a CSV file that has a list of image URLs that you would like to download.
Instructions for use:
- Change the text in quotes on line 17 to the file location of the input file (i.e., the file consisting of the image URLs). Make sure that the input file has a column called "accessURI" that lists the images URLs from which you would like to download.
- Change the text in quotes on line 21 to the file location where you would like the images to be downloaded into (make sure that the folder exists!). Also make sure that you end the line with a forward slash so it knows to put all the images IN that folder.
- Run the code.
- Profit! (by enabling research, education, curation, etc.)
* Pay attention to the copyright of the images you are downloading! Use of images must follow copyright restrictions.
