Open software - An exercise of freedom

  • 1. University of Twente

Description

Freedom can not be fully exercised if access to the tools required to do actions we want is limited. This talk links that argument with the idea that open-source software allows for individual freedom and encourages collaboration amongst individuals, and ”when humans are free to collaborate, they thrive”. However, to benefit from this empowerment, it is essential to understand how open source works, how to contribute and how to interact with the community of developers and users.
