Moist adiabatic atmosphere model
Description
A. The purpose of the software is to calculate the vertical thermal and chemical structure of multi-component primordial atmospheres.
B. The atmospheric model is an adiabatic model that describes the convective regions of primordial atmospheres. Therefore, the calculation is carried out by specifying the composition (H2O/H2) and specific entropy (S) of the atmospheric column at a given basal temperature and pressure. Subsequently, vertical structure is calculated by specifying a lower pressure but an identical entropy, as convective columns are expected to be nearly isentropic. At each calculated atmospheric level, the partial pressure of water vapor is compared to the saturation pressure to determine whether or not water would condense into clouds. For partial pressure exceeding saturation, two-phase calculations are conducted to determine the fraction of water vapor condensed at each subsequent altitude.
C. The code is run on the MAPLE software package.
D. There are no alternate embodiments to this software code.
E. The supportive theory is standard atmospheric physics theory accessible in textbooks.
F. G. H. There are no engineering specifications, peripheral equipment, or safety factors.
