National Education Policy 2020 and Importance of Interdisciplinary Study

This paper discusses the importance of interdisciplinary study. In
interdisciplinary study, two or more disciplines are involved in order
to develop a proper overall understanding. In the National Education
Policy 2020, special emphasis has been laid on interdisciplinary
approach. Interdisciplinary approach may sound like a modern
approach but in fact from historical times notable personalities have
used interdisciplinary approach to master the particular art. The
Renaissance brought Europe from the Middle Ages into the modern
era. In this particular period, a lot of attention was paid to intensive
observation for scientific verification of any theory. This was a time
consuming activity and gradually experts were required for each
discipline. This resulted in the separation of discipline. But this
separation gave rise to new complications. But now again the
importance of interdisciplinary approach is being accepted. One of the
reasons for this acceptance is that it has been helpful in solving
complex problems.
