Description
The article deals with the question of veneration of the early Christian saints of Western Europe and their influence on the formation of modern European nations and the formation of European nation-states. The religious spiritual unity of the Christian world of the first millennium after the Nativity of Christ is emphasized. Attention is drawn to the continuity of the Western European monastic movement of the IV-VI centuries with the development of the institution of monasticism in the Christian East. The decisive importance of the stages of Christianization of the peoples of Europe for the genesis of the semantic space of the modern European cultural landscape is noted.
