Description
John Wallis (1616-1703) , an English mathematician has been given partial credit for the introduction of the symbol of infinity. In general, Wallis has been the historical forerunner of the seventeenth-century shift from Euclid's dominated geometrical to algebraic thinking.
Waillis defined the symbol for intinity as ∞ (p. 4).
