Description

Whole building design is an integrated approach to building design that considers all aspects of a building's life cycle, including energy and resource use, environmental impacts, and occupant health and well-being. This paper explores the concept of whole building design and its role in achieving sustainable buildings. Material selection plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable buildings, as the use of environmentally friendly materials can reduce the building's environmental impact and improve indoor air quality. Additionally, incorporating passive design strategies such as natural ventilation and daylighting can reduce energy consumption and improve occupant comfort. Effective communication and collaboration among all stakeholders are critical to the success of whole building design, as is the implementation of sustainable design principles throughout the project's lifecycle.
