Description
The decline in enrolment of pupils in Nigeria basic schools and its incident problems have been major concerns to the government and educationist. This paper explicit the school feeding programme as a contrivance for pupils enrolment into basic schools in Nigeria. The study obtained its figures and data from secondary sources. It discussed the relevance of the school feeding programme in terms of enrolment, retention and completion of pupils in basic schools. It was therefore recommended that the Federal government should expand the scope of this programme to reach schools mostly in the rural areas and others to key into the programme. It was concluded that this programme should be made a major priority in these schools in order to aid pupils’ enrollment and retention in our basic schools.
