Description

Acanthomysis thailandica Murano, 1988

Type locality. Chacoengsao, Gulf of Thailand (Murano 1988).

Record from Thailand. Chacoengsao, Gulf of Thailand (Murano 1988).

Habitat and depth range. Murano (1988) did not provide the habitat and the depth of this species when it was recorded. But, this species is very abundant at the shallow zone of the brackish water with 1–2.5 meter deep (Ramarn et al. 2012a).

Distribution. This species is distributed from Thailand (Murano 1988) to Malaysia (Ramarn et al. 2012a; 2012b).

Remarks. Among the group of Acanthomysis spp., the species A. thailandica can be recognized from (1) the telson linguiform and its lateral margins with short unarmed portion and with two to four spines on margin anterior to unarmed portion, 2) carpopropodus of third to eighth thoracic endopods divided into four articles and 3) fifth pleopod slender and nearly twice as long as third (Murano 1988).
