Juenagrion gen. nov.

Type species. Juenagrion nanae spec. nov. by present designation.

Etymology: Juenagrion = Juen, after Dr. Leandro Juen (b. 15–xi–1980), longtime friend and fellow odonatologist + agrion, neuter form of agrios (ἄγριος) meaning “wild”, which in damselflies is now used as an indicator that a genus belongs to the Coenagrionidae (Fliedner 2006).

Generic characterization. Medium sized Coenagrionidae (29–34.5 mm), angulated frons. Prothorax of female with a pair of short processes on dorsum of posterior lobe directed caudad (Fig. 15A, 16). Penis with tip of S3 sharp– angled arrow–shaped (J. igapocola and J. nanae) or slightly rounded with a rim (J. leptocyclia and J. selaopyge), ectal region of S3 with a pair of lateral folds (Fig. 17–18).

Species included: Juenagrion igapocola (Faasen, 2017) comb. nov.; Juenagrion leptocyclia (Garrison, 2009) comb. nov.; Juenagrion nanae spec. nov.; Juenagrion selaopyge (De Marmels, 1989) comb. nov.

Distribution. Peru, Venezuela and Brazil.
