Description
Manual
Protected areas, both private and public, increasingly need to demonstrate their contribution to local well-being, beyond the intrinsic value of the biodiversity they protect. For this, it is necessary to have human well-being indicators that allow for monitoring protected areas' contribution. The selection of indicators is not a trivial exercise and requires a high level of knowledge of the reality in which protected areas are inserted. To a large extent, the indicators are case-specific, although the process and criteria for their selection may be generalizable. The central objective of this manual is to provide a practical guide for selecting human well-being indicators applicable to different realities of nature conservation within protected areas (public or private) in Chile.
The supplementary material:
This dataset presents the supplementary material for the "Manual For The Creation of Human Well-being Indicators in Chilean Protected Areas ". This manual provides a stepwise guide for the selection of Human Well-being indicators applicable to different realities of nature conservation within PAs (public or private) in Chile.
Appendix 1. This document includes examples of domains, attributes, and common sources of data for the construction of human well-being indicators. The list is not exhaustive as there are many others that could be relevant to a protected area.
Appendix 2. This document includes an example of human well-being data collection instrument for fishers.
