How to Revive Archival Documents with a Journalistic Pen

Authors/Creators

Description

The author of the idea and the performer of this valuable publishing project is a well-known journalist and public figure in Ukraine, Halyna Datsiuk. Together with local historian Anatoliy Lukashchuk, she enriches the Ukrainian information space with the still-unknown incredible stories of quite young members of the underground of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists during and after the Second World War. Namely, about the OUN-UPA female stanycha of the Volyn village of Kordyshiv in the Ternopil region.

Based on the newly discovered archival materials and the memories of eyewitnesses, the stories of girls – liaisons, nurses, housekeepers – who became active participants in the national liberation struggle for Independent Ukraine have been made public for the first time. It also describes the repressive and punitive measures of Soviet law enforcement agencies against the OUN underground female members, their families, and persons who helped the OUN-UPA.

The problems of the book are quite consistent with the realities of the current Russian-Ukrainian war and its coverage in the mass media.
