Discussing Health Protection in the Context of International Law
Authors/Creators
Description
This article examines and discusses the essence and scope of international health law, which is a new subfield of public international law. It has been argued that the protection of health exemplifies a compelling social necessity that now needs to be discussed in the context of international law. In addition, there is an urgent need to establish interests that function as a counterweight to international trade, global trade, and welfare interests to protect the health of people and populations around the world. Not much progress has yet been made in the field of international health law. As a result of the lack of widespread international recognition of international health law as a separate sub-area of international law, the legal tools for setting healthrelated standards are very disjointed. There are many obstacles to be overcome in terms of improving existing tools and addressing the obligations of non-state actors working in the health sector. The ongoing process of globalization not only has an impact on the world economy, but also has a significant negative impact on the overall health of the population and people all over the world. It presents several important challenges for the health sector, which is seeking answers at the national as well as international level. Traditionally, the main purpose of such multinational responses has been to control the spread of infectious diseases. While the recent Ebola crisis has shown that communicable diseases continue to pose a serious threat to global health, there are also new and different global health challenges to meet, including the global increase in noncommunicable (chronic) diseases . Much needs to be said about the pandemic that followed. These challenges need to be overcome to protect the health of people around the world. According to research in the field of public health, health inequalities both within and between countries are growing.
