Report on promotion of FAIR data within Photon and Neutron RIs
Description
FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data management practices are not necessarily widely understood or valued within the research community supported by ExPaNDS Photon and Neutron (PaN) facilities, and the benefits and implications of their adoption need to be promoted within the community. In this report, we describe the activities undertaken by ExPaNDS to promote FAIR data policies, tools, and practices within the communities associated with PaN facilities. Different stakeholder groups have different priorities and concerns, so we present the approaches undertaken for each community in order to be most effective. In particular, we targeted the following groups: senior facilities management; instrument scientists; other facilities staff involved in data and information management; user groups in science communities; and the wider Research Data Management (RDM) community. We describe the promotional activities undertaken across the project. We conclude with a discussion on the likely impact of the work of ExPaNDS Work Package 2 (WP2) on the wider ExPaNDS partner community.
