Description
The Indian black earth (IBE) is found in patches of soil throughout the Amazon basin, whose origin
is related to the deposition of waste materials from pre-Columbian populations. These soils are
riches in nutrients, especially P, Ca and Mg, because of this widely used by small farmers. In this
paper gives a review of the origin of the ICC, its physical and chemical properties describing
important aspects that lead to the theory of cultural customs of the ancient peoples of Central
Amazonia.
