»regem se in Toringia esse cinsebat« Ein "saxo-erulisches" Königreich an Harz, Elbe und Saale als Keimzelle der ottonischen Saxonia?

Authors/Creators

Description

Between 400 (first mention of the "Toringi") and 775 (oath of allegiance of the "Austreleudi Saxones" under Hessi to Charles the Great), in the region of Harz Mountains, Elbe and Saale, processes took place that had far-reaching effects on Saxon ethnogenesis. Around the mountains, the evidence of a trans-European exchange in this period has been condensed in the past decades. The text would like to give some ideas to stimulate the discussion about those dominion-spatial preconditions which made the centuries-long process of the formation of an Ottonian "Basis-Landschaft" possible.
