Description

Xanthocampsomeris completa completa Rohwer, 1927

Female. Body length 15.5 mm (range 11.3 mm – 18 mm); forewing length 11.7 mm; Structure. Clypeus striate with margins punctate; interantennal area densely and coarsely punctate; frons, vertex and gena polished; pronotum densely and coarsely punctate; mesoscotum punctate in margins and polished in the middle; scutellum and metanotum with scattered punctate; anterior face of propodeum densely and coarsely punctate, posterior face polished with a few punctures, and lateral margins of propodeum with coarsely punctures; hind tibial spurs acute; pygidium covered with danse hair. Color. T1–T3 with yellow bands and sometimes T4; wings fuscous hyaline (Fig 19).

Male. Body length 14.6 mm (range 11.6 mm – 17.1 mm); forewing length 11.1 mm; Structure. Clypeus punctate in the margins; interantennal area densely and coarsely punctate; frons, vertex and gena polished with some punctures; mesosoma scattered punctate; posterior face of propodeum with scattered punctate; fore wings hairy throughout. Genitalia (Fig. 42I). Parameres converging towards the apex; tip strongly angulated forming a subtriangular apex, ventral face with 3/4 elongated setae the rest polished; volsellae with dense and elongated setae. Color. Pronotum with yellow band sometimes divided; scutellum with two yellow spots; metanotum rare with yellow spot; T2–T4 with yellow bands S2–S3 with yellow spots on each side, S3 dim or absent; wings fuscous hyaline (Fig. 20).

Valid subspecies: Xanthocampsomeris completa yucatanensi Bradley, 1964.

Distribution. NA and NT Mexico: Chiapas, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Sinaloa. Guatemala: Izabal. Honduras: Comayagua (Map 5). United States of America (Porter 1981).
