Ajib-alḳiṣaṣ(عجيب القصص).

A fairy tale, relating the adventures of an Indian prince who is designated in many different ways (once, for instance, يوسف جمال), and his love affairs with the princess Badî’-aljamâl, entirely different from the قصّۀ سیف الملوك و بديع الجمال (see Nos. 788-792 above).

Beginning: سرسبزئ بوستان سخن بآييارى (بآبيارئ) ستايش چمن آرائى است كه گلشن عشق الخ.

The title is distinctly given on fol. 7b, l. 10. The story is dedicated to the emperor Shâh ‘Âlam (who reigned A.H. 1173-1221=A.D. 1759-1806), see fol. 3b, l. 1: شاه عالم پناه دولت و دين. The author’s name does not appear anywhere.

Copied at Lucknow during the wazîrship of Nawwâb Âṣaf-aldaulah Bahâdur, and finished the 25th of Jumâdâ-althânî, A.H. 1209 (A.D. 1795, Jan. 17). Bibliotheca Leydeniana.

No. 2462, ff. 152, ll. 15; Nasta’lîḳ, rather difficult to read through the absence of many diacritical points; size, 95/8 in. by 61/8 in.
