Description
Age2exhume is a simple thermal model that is optimized to provide a synoptic overview of exhumation rates from large regional datasets of thermochronometric data. The model takes the form of a Matlab script that solves for steady-state exhumation rates from input thermochronometric ages, assuming vertical exhumation pathways and unchanging topography. Details of the methodology are provided in van der Beek, P., and Schildgen, T., submitted, Short Communication: age2exhume - A Matlab/Python script to calculate steady-state vertical exhumation rates from thermochronometric ages and application to the Himalaya, Geochronology.
Three scripts are provided:
age2exhume_readinput_v2.m: takes an input file as an argument; this is the script intended for rapidly calculating exhumation rates from large datasets. An example dataset ("Himalaya_mat_input.txt") can be used to test the script.
age2exhume_single_age_v2.m: calculates an exhumation rate with uncertainty bounds (based on age uncertainty) for a single age.
age2exhume_lookup.m: creates a lookup table of steady-state exhumation rates for a given age (column) and delta-h value (row).
