Sasajiscymnus seboshii (Ohta, 1929)

Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. aureus sp. nov. in structures of the male genitalia, but can be distinguished from the later by the black elytra with a large yellowish brown heart-shaped marking in the middle part, and the parameres about 2/5 as long as penis guide (Figs 34a–b, 34j). In S. aureus, elytra are predominantly yellow with some black spots, and the parameres are about 1/3 as long as penis guide (Figs 21a–b, 21g).

Description. TL: 1.53–2.28 mm, TW: 1.14–1.87 mm, TH: 0.76–1.12 mm.

Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence (Figs 34a–f). Head yellow to yellowish brown, with interocular distance distinctly greater than eye width in frontal view. Pronotum yellow. Scutellar shield brown. Elytra black with yellow apices and humeral angles, and a large yellowish brown spot presenting in the middle part; sometimes median macula extends to lateral margins of elytra. Ventral surfaces yellow to black. Legs yellow. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, not recurved toward the base of ventrite (Fig. 34g).

Male genitalia: Penis stout, penis capsule with stout outer arm and long inner one, apex of penis constricted with membranous appendage (Figs 34h–i). Penis guide with prominent keel at base in lateral view, then tapering towards pointed apex; parameres about 2/5 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide widest at base in ventral view, then gradually narrowing to pointed apex (Figs 34j–k).

Female genitalia: Coxites elongate, triangular; styli well developed with terminal setae; spermatheca distinctly curved, with basal ramus and elongate nodulus.

Distribution. China (Anhui, Fujian, Hubei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Taiwan); Japan.

Remarks. This species varies in elytral patterns. Some specimens from Shaanxi, Gansu and Hubei have predominantly pale yellow elytra, with black markings reducing to small spots or narrow lines near humeral calli.
