Publish or Perish? Researcher assessment is about to change

Abstract: In July 2022, the European Commission launched an Agreement On Reforming Research Assessment. After years of talking, there is significant momentum for changing how researchers are assessed. In this talk, I will present some work leading up to the new agreement and how Universities Norway took a lead when developing the Norwegian Career Assessment Matrix (NOR-CAM). The core idea is that academics need to get recognition for a broader range of activities. This is important for transitioning to more open research practices and diverse career paths within and outside academia.
