VALIDATION OF QUESTIONNAIRE: KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND PRACTICES REGARDING THE ANTIBIORESISTANCE PHENOMENON TO DOCTORS

Objectives. The purpose of the work is to validate the questionnaire intended to highlight the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding the use and resistance of antimicrobial preparations, to increase awareness and change behaviors towards the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance among healthcare workers. The understanding of knowledge, attitudes and practices about the use of antimicrobial preparations with a valid and reliable questionnaire is essential to create an intervention to minimize the use and misuse of antibiotics in the medical field.
Material and methods. This study consists in the development and validation of the questionnaire, based on a literature review, experts review and pre-testing. The validation phase consisted of physical, content, and construction validity. To validate this tool 107 respondents were surveyed. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was tested using the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient.
Results. The questionnaire was composed of 95 questions and sub-questions, grouped into four sections. The developed and tested tool recorded a total value of the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient –0.93. The assessment of consistency and fidelity per section was: Knowledge – 0.83, Attitudes – 0.71, Practices – 0.95. As a result of the validation, 7 questions were excluded. 31 questions were modified and adjusted. The final questionnaire contains 88 questions and sub-questions.
Conclusions. The developed questionnaire will be helpful to acquire a better understanding of the knowledge, attitudes and practices of healthcare workers regarding the phenomenon of antimicrobial resistance. The used tool has satisfactory validity and good internal consistency.
