BPoMP: Benchmark of Poetical Minimal Pairs

  • 1. Dartmouth College
  • 2. University of Connecticut
  • 3. Indiana University, Bloomington

Description

This dataset represents a testing framework that focuses on concept of rhyming and general understanding of poetics. The dataset is based on our earlier dataset OEDILF released in 2021. It consists of 14 different separate subsets, each consisting of pairs of limericks. The first limerick in a pair is unaltered, the second is a subtle alteration of the other, in a way that perturbs particular poetic or generally morphological aspect of the poem. This dataset is released as a part of inaugural issue of Journal of Computational Literary Studies, specifically as complement to the article titled "Limericks and Computational Poetics: The Minimal Pairs Framework: Computational Challenges for Poetic Analysis and Synthesis".
