Juscelinomys vulpinus

Description

Juscelinomys vulpinus (Winge, 1887). E Museo Lundii, 1 (3):36.

TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Minas Gerais, Pleistocene cave deposits near Lagoa Santa.

DISTRIBUTION: Known only from the type locality.

COMMENTS: Moojen (1965) provisionally referred Winge's Oxymycterus vulpinus to Juscelinomys. The present existence of J. vulpinus in the region and its status with respect to J. candango invite attention (see Voss and Myers, 1991).
