Description

Bolomys Thomas, 1916. Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 8, 18:339.

TYPE SPECIES: Akodon amoenus Thomas, 1900.

SYNONYMS: Cabreramys.

COMMENTS: Akodontine. After diagnosis as a genus, taxon retained as a subgenus of Akodon by Ellerman (1941) and Cabrera (1961). Emendation of diagnostic traits, synonymy of Cabreramys, and provisional list of species presented by Reig (1987). Complex taxonomic history and diagnosis further refined based on Bolivian species by Anderson and Olds (1989). Chromosomal traits and inappropriate karyotypic references reviewed by Maia and Langguth (1981) and Reig (1987).
