The MEURI ethical framework: How unproven interventions should be used outside of research during a public health emergency?
Description
This presentation is divided into four sections. First, I start with a general introduction to the ethics of unproven health interventions. Second, I present some preliminary operational questions about where is available the World Health Organization's (WHO) recent ethics guidelines on the emergency use of unproven interventions outside clinical trials (the MEURI framework) and if they are being used for the current monkeypox public health emergency of international concern. Third, I introduce two fundamental questions on the MEURI framework, namely, what is MEURI and what is the intended scope of the MEURI framework? Finally, I give a quick overwiew of the ethical criteria of the MEURI framework.
