Description

Malacomys cansdalei Ansell, 1958. Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 13, 1:342.

TYPE LOCALITY: Ghana, Oda.

DISTRIBUTION: Forest zone of S Ghana, S Ivory Coast, and E Liberia.

SYNONYMS: giganteus.

COMMENTS: Part of the murine fauna endemic to West Africa (see account of Grammomys buntingi). Rautenbach and Schütter (1978) considered cansdalei a subspecies of M. longipes.
