13. Croton fuscus (Didr.) Müller Argoviensis (1865: 131).
— Myriogomphos fuscus Didrichsen (1857: 143).
Type: — BRAZIL. São Paulo: Franca, June 1834, P.W. Lund s.n. (holotype C; isotype G-DC 00312539!). (Fig. 7, F–I)
This subshrub can be recognized by its glabrescent young branches and leaves, rhombic or obovate leaf blades, and the presence of a xylopodium. Distribution and habitat:— Occurs in midwestern (MS), southern (PR), and southeastern (SP) Brazil (Caruzo & Cordeiro 2007, Caruzo et al. 2020), growing in the ‘cerrado’ habitat, between 555 and 730 m elevation. (Fig. 8).
Phenology:— Flowering and fruiting from September to October.
Representative specimens:— BRAZIL. Paraná: Campo Mourão, 14 October 1965, G. Hatschbach 13022 (HCF, MBM, RB). Idem, Cerrado Valtra, 24°00’36.69”S, 52°21’47.24”W, 555 m, 19 October 2016, A. P. N. Pereira, F. S. Petrongari & O. L. M. Silva 31 (SP). Tibagi, Fazenda Monte Alegre, Harmonia, 14 September 1952, G. Hatschbach 2807 (MBM, NY).
